Project Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in the sport and recreation industry in an administrative or organisational capacity. These individuals can plan, conduct and evaluate activities of others, deal with unpredictable and non-routine situations and provide leadership and guidance to staff.
The qualification provides a pathway to work in a diversity of sport and recreation locations such as fitness centres, sporting grounds or complexes, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres or sporting organisations and associations.
Students have 12 months to complete the course.
Nominal hours of study: 320 hours. Minimum 7 hours per week recommended.

A non-refundable Administration Fee of $150 is included in the deposit and is not additional to the payment plan below
Deposit to be paid prior to course commencement: $500.
Progress Payment to be paid four weeks after commencing: 50%
Midway Payment to be paid six months into the course: 25%
Final Payment to be paid prior to course completion: 25%
Participants must be working at a public Aquatic Centre with a current Pool Lifeguard Licence.
FAST College does not provide the following units for online study;
- HLTAID003 Provide first aid
- SISCAQU002 Perform basic water rescues
- SISCAQU007 Perform advanced water rescues
- SISCAQU306A Supervise clients at an aquatic facility or environment
For students to complete the SIS40115 Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation, they will have to complete these units/course with another provider and show evidence of this before they can course complete (CT). These units are included in the Pool Lifeguard Licence, issued by Royal Lifesaving Australia. Therefore, we target the course at Pool Lifeguards who must have this Licence before being employed as Lifeguards.
Students will be required to complete written assessment tasks and provide evidence of practical tasks at your workplace and upload to Dropbox/Moodle.

Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts.
Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics.
Being able to access the Moodle online and upload documents during the time of the study.
